A project planner that grows with your work
cells.garden is a free visual project planner. Your projects become plants, your tasks become cells, and your garden changes as you move work forward.
Keep a practical kanban board beside the garden, or tuck it away to see all your projects together. It gives unfinished ideas a place to live while you focus on the project you want to work on today.

From one idea to a growing project
- Add a plant. Give its seed a project name or goal, such as “Make a short film”.
- Add cells. Break the project into small pieces: a reference to save, a question to answer, a task to do.
- Move the work forward. Drag cells between layers on the board. The plant changes with them.
- Find the detail again. Select a part of the plant to find its cell on the board.
A visual kanban board, from groundwork to flowers
The seed holds the goal. Four layers hold the work around it:
- Minerals: raw ideas, notes and references. For a short film, this could be a location idea or a visual reference.
- Roots: plans and prerequisites. Write a script, find a location or make a shot list.
- Stem: work in progress. Keep the scene you are filming or editing here.
- Flowers: finished work. Move completed scenes here as the project takes shape.
The layers are flexible. Use them for a personal checklist, a design portfolio, a course project or work you share with someone else. Each plant can have its own shape and colours.
The same garden across your tools
Open the garden in your browser or add the website to your phone’s Home Screen. The Chrome extension puts it on your new tab page, in the side panel and in a toolbar popup. The Obsidian plugin keeps it beside your notes on desktop and mobile.
Without an account, each installation keeps its own local garden. Sign in with the same account to sync across devices and apps. You can share a whole garden or a single plant, and assign cells to the people working with you.
Keep a copy of your work
Open Export or import in the garden menu to make a backup. Markdown export creates one file per plant. Back up local gardens before clearing browser storage or uninstalling an app.
